AM|PM Watch Repair is an independent watchmaking workshop specialising in the repair and servicing of a wide range of luxury watches. Our experience spans many leading brands, including Omega, Rolex, TAG Heuer, Cartier, Breitling, Seiko, Ebel, and more. We work on both modern and vintage watches, carrying out everything from glass replacements to complete mechanical services. With over a decade of professional horological experience, we have previously worked for major Swiss brands including Omega, Longines, Tissot & Hamilton, and have also served as in-house watchmakers for well-known high-street jewellers. Our expertise and experience allows us to work on almost any brand that comes in for repair with no job too small.
In addition, we are passionate about British watchmaking and collaborate with several British micro-brands, providing assembly services, warranty repairs, and technical consultation on forthcoming releases.

Movement Service Procedure

Watch Inspection
01. Initial Inspection
On receipt of the watch, the watch head, clasp and bracelet are initially inspected for external signs of shocks or damage. The case is then carefully opened and inspected for any visible damage, moisture ingress or contaminations.
Watch Disassembly
02. Disassembly
The movement is removed from the case and disassembly begins. This involves firstly removing the dial and hands, the movement parts are removed one by one and thoroughly inspected paying close attention to the wheels, jewels, pinions and pivots. Any worn parts are noted and will be replaced during the service.
Watch Cleaning
03. Ultrasonic Cleaning
The disassembled movement is carefully placed into segmented cleaning baskets, and put through a multi-stage ultrasonic cleaning machine, which uses industry standard 'L&R' professional ultrasonic cleaning fluids to fully remove all old oils, greases, dirt and any contaminants. The case and bracelet are then dismantled and fully ultrasonically cleaned.
Mainspring Replacement
04. Mainspring Replacement
A standard part of our service includes the replacement of the mainspring. Over time mainsprings can lose their strength, shortening the watch's power reserve. Replacing one at each service guarantees a solid power supply and avoids breakages between service intervals.
Watch Reassembly
05. Reassembly & Oiling
During assembly all components and wear points are oiled or greased to manufacturer specifications, the primary pivot points and jewels are oiled by industry standard Moebius lubricants. If any worn parts were found on disassembly they will now be replaced with brand new genuine manufacturer parts.
Watch Regulation
06. Regulation & Testing
The base timekeeping movement is now fully functional and requires regulation. Its timekeeping is measured using a timegrapher machine, and the watchmaker makes adjustments to get it running within manufacturer specifications. After 24 hours the watch is re-tested and further adjustments are made if necessary.
Power Reserve Testing
07. Power Reserve & Autowinding
The watchmaker tests the power reserve of the watch. If the watch has an automatic movement then the autowinding function is tested on our 'Elma' watch-winder, ensuring full automatic winding capabilities are being achieved.
Final Assembly
08. Casing Up & Final Tests
The dial and hands are refitted to the movement and the entire assembly is re-cased. All gaskets are checked for wear or damage. The fully assembled watch is subject to final timing and pressure tests to ensure both accuracy and water resistance are within manufacturer tolerances.

Estimates & Quotes

Estimates are always free (please enquire by email or by filling in the contact form). Before beginning any work a free fixed price quote will be issued, this price will not change. If proceeded, we will then issue a timescale for the repair and begin the work.

If the customer decides to decline the quote then the watch will be safely returned.

Warranties on Watch Repairs

If servicing your watch, we offer a 12 month warranty included with the service. Complete service and any parts installed in conjunction with that service are warranted for twelve months.

Watches that have not been serviced are not warranted. This includes what is referred to as "partial repairs", such as works carried out on stem & crowns, straps, bezels, hand & dial repairs and glass replacements.

Partial Service / Minor Intervention Policy

There is no warranty on partial repairs, however as a courtesy we usually offer to apply a previous partial repair's cost toward a comprehensive service if the watch requires a second related repair within one year.

Exclusions

AMPM will honour our warranty provided that you retain the original receipt of work completed. Warranty is void if damaged by water, abuse (knocking/dropping the watch), or intervention by any third party.

Water Resistance

If requested, and where appropriate, a water resistance test will be carried out in our industry standard "Greiner Leak Checker Prime". A report will be given on its ability to withstand the ingress of water. It must be understood that the test carried out in the workshop cannot replicate real-world conditions, as it is a static test within a dry chamber.

The water resistance test does not constitute a guarantee of water resistance in any way, nor for any specified length of time. Gaskets can degrade quickly under exposure to chemicals or UV, and the test is solely for advising that the watch has been correctly re-sealed. Annual resealing is advised if the watch is intended for use in water.

Damage resulting from mistreatment, improper use, or magnetism is not covered.
